FastForm MicroFast AI Application Reduces Metal Printing Support by 98%
Welcome to the MicroFast booth at the 2026 Formnext Shenzhen 3D Printing Exhibition.
Established over a decade ago, FastForm MicroFast, headquartered in Suzhou Industrial Park, is a metal 3D printer manufacturer known for its high cost-performance ratio, with numerous users in the dental and industrial fields.
At this exhibition, MicroFast showcased two key pieces of equipment: the M300 with AI printing technology, and the G1 green light equipment dedicated to high-reflectivity materials.
M300 + AI Printing: 98% Support Reduction, Making Every Device a "Master Craftsman"
Manager Zhu of MicroFast first introduced the core product of this exhibition – the M300 equipment, equipped with the latest AM build AI printing technology.
Unlike traditional metal 3D printing that uses fixed parameters, AI printing technology can adjust parameters in real-time according to printing status, covering the entire process from data pre-processing, equipment printing, to data post-processing.
Manager Zhu stated that AI printing technology can reduce support by up to 98%, which translates to a 60% to 70% reduction in processing time for a full plate of parts in the post-processing stage.
At the same time, due to the significant reduction in support, the powder material saved during the printing process is also considerable, and the surface finish of the lower surface of the part is improved by more than 50% compared to traditional processes.
Reduce Reliance on Process Personnel Experience
This technology addresses a long-standing pain point in the industry – traditional metal 3D printing relies heavily on the experience of process personnel, including adding support, part placement angles, and assigning process parameters.
With AI printing, the equipment automatically selects the most suitable printing parameters for different model shapes, eliminating the need for manual assignment of process parameters. This is equivalent to making every device an experienced "master craftsman."
Thin-Wall Part Deformation Control
For easily deformable parts such as thin-walled components, AI printing also shows significant advantages.
Traditional printing of thin-walled parts often suffers from deformation due to small wall thickness or structural stress. With AI printing, deformation is virtually eliminated, and the requirements for part placement and operator handling are greatly reduced, essentially achieving "barrier-free printing."
AI Features are Upgradeable
In terms of commercialization, the AI function is currently an optional module. All MicroFast equipment has reserved interfaces, so customers with limited initial budgets can purchase basic equipment first and then upgrade the AI module later.
The deployment method uses a cloud-based large model, rather than local deployment.
G1 Green Light Equipment: 500W Green Laser, Specializing in High-Reflectivity Materials like Pure Copper
On the other side of the booth is MicroFast's newly launched G1 green light printing equipment, and the G2 equipment of the same series will also be launched this year.
This equipment uses a green laser specifically for printing high-reflectivity materials such as pure copper, silver, and gold, which are difficult for traditional infrared fiber lasers to process.
500W Green Laser
G1 equipment is equipped with a 500W green laser.
140 × 140 mm
The forming size is 140 mm × 140 mm.
±0.05 mm
Smaller pure copper parts can achieve ±0.05 mm after debugging.
±0.1 mm
Regular sizes can achieve a molding accuracy of ±0.1 mm.
Pure Copper 3D Printing Boosts Liquid Cooling Applications
The launch of green light equipment directly supports applications in the liquid cooling industry.
The booth displayed multiple pure copper parts printed using G1 and G2 series equipment, including precision fin structures, TPMS (Triply Periodic Minimal Surface) lattice cell structures, and bionic structures.
These complex structures can maximize heat exchange surface area and improve heat dissipation efficiency in cooling applications.
DDR5 Memory Cooling Parts
In terms of real-world applications, the booth showcased an integrated cold plate and parts used for DDR5 memory cooling.
This DDR5 cooling part features a special flow channel structure internally. After customer trials, the temperature difference between the inlet and outlet was effectively reduced compared to traditional designs, achieving good heat dissipation results.
Two Major Development Directions: AI Metal 3D Printing and Green Light Printing
The two products showcased by MicroFast at this exhibition represent two important directions for the metal 3D printing industry:
One is to use AI technology to lower process thresholds, reduce support and post-processing costs, addressing the industry's long-standing pain point of relying on human experience; the other is to use green light laser technology to overcome the printing bottleneck of high-reflectivity materials like pure copper, entering the rapidly growing market of AI computing power liquid cooling.
If the 98% support reduction data from AI printing can be stably achieved in large-scale production, it will significantly reduce the overall cost of metal 3D printing and promote industry adoption.
With the growing demand for AI servers, pure copper liquid cooling parts are becoming a significant incremental market for metal 3D printing, and MicroFast's布局 in this area is worth noting.
