Bambu Lab X2D Dual-Extrusion System
Primary nozzle for parts, auxiliary nozzle for supports
The primary nozzle handles the model, while the auxiliary nozzle can use dedicated materials to create support structures, providing complete support for steep overhangs, fabric folds, and internal channels. After printing, the supports are easier to remove, preserving the model's surface quality.
Combining different colors and material properties
The X2D can combine different materials like PLA and TPU in a single model to create functional parts such as bags, grips, protective covers, and other items that require both rigidity and flexibility, ready to use as soon as they are removed from the build plate.
Quick nozzle switching reduces multi-color printing waste
The dual-nozzle system enables rapid switching between printing tasks, shortening transition times between colors and materials, leading to smoother transitions and reduced material waste during filament changes.
Touch, switch, complete
The X2D integrates gears and a trigger mechanism directly into the tool head. When the nozzle switching lever contacts the trigger arm, the internal gear assembly completes the nozzle switch, eliminating the need for an additional drive motor and helping control the tool head's weight.
Lightweight tool head reduces inertia and vibration
A lighter tool head helps reduce inertia and vibration during high-speed movement, allowing the model to maintain consistent surface quality even during high-speed printing.
X2D Temperature Control and Engineering Material Printing Capability
Dual-inlet cooling stabilizes overhangs and every layer
Freshly extruded material remains soft; the X2D's dual-inlet design on the left and right sides directs cold air into the print chamber, continuously exchanging air and accelerating part cooling, which is particularly suitable for low-temperature materials like PLA.
300°C nozzle and 65°C active heating chamber
The X2D is equipped with a nozzle capable of up to 300°C and an active heating chamber up to 65°C, allowing it to handle a wide variety of engineering materials. Uniform chamber temperature helps improve interlayer adhesion and reduces the risk of warping caused by uneven temperatures.
Bambu Lab X2D Precision and Surface Quality
Flow Dynamics Calibration
Bambu Lab Flow Dynamics Calibration builds a non-linear model that changes with usage status, detecting and compensating for the impact of nozzle wear or moisture in the material on extrusion flow.
PMSM Servo Extrusion System
The PMSM servo system samples at a frequency of 20 kHz and dynamically adjusts torque, compensating for extrusion fluctuations before they are reflected on the model surface, helping to maintain a stable flow.
Smooth and delicate surfaces
Sharp corners and clear details
AI Monitoring and 31 Sensors
AI camera monitors printing status
Before printing, the AI real-time preview camera and tool head camera scan the build plate; during the printing process, they continuously monitor for anomalies such as material tangles or nozzle clogs.
Sensors cover critical printing stages
The X2D is equipped with 31 sensors, monitoring the material feed path, printing process, thermal environment, and equipment safety status in real-time.
Air Filtration, Maintenance, and Daily Operation
Three-stage air filtration system
The air filtration system consists of a G3 pre-filter, an H12 HEPA filter, and a coconut shell activated carbon layer, used to reduce particles and odors generated during the printing process.
Tool-less nozzle replacement
Low-noise night printing
Remote viewing of print details
Durable nozzle switching mechanism
The dual-nozzle switching mechanism is designed for long-term repeated use, maintaining smooth switching.
Automatic firmware updates
The X2D continuously receives improvements in features, compatibility, and user experience through software and firmware updates.

Bambu Lab X2D FAQ
What are the main differences between the X2D and the X1C?
The X2D adds a dual-extrusion system, supporting up to 25-color printing when configured with the maximum number of AMS units. It also features a 65°C active heating chamber, PMSM servo extruder, real-time flow sensing, material tangle detection, AI real-time monitoring, a tool head camera, and vision encoder-based motion calibration.
What are the X2D's maximum printing speed and acceleration?
When using the primary nozzle, the maximum travel speed is 1,000 mm/s, and the maximum acceleration is 20,000 mm/s². Actual printing speed will be adjusted based on the model, material, nozzle, slicer settings, and quality requirements.
Are the left and right hotends identical?
Yes. The left and right hotends use the same structure and components and are interchangeable.
What is the purpose of the print chamber exhaust fan on the back panel?
The exhaust fan actively draws air from the print chamber. In cooling modes for low-temperature materials like PLA, it works with an adaptive airflow system to dissipate heat and vent fumes; after printing with high-temperature materials, it can be enabled for post-print air purification to reduce residual fumes within the chamber.
How many AMS units can the X2D connect to?
Single hotend configuration: Supports up to 4 AMS 2 Pro and 8 AMS HT units, for a total of 12 units and 24 material slots.
Dual hotend configuration: When configured with the maximum AMS capacity, up to 25-color printing can be achieved.
Does the X2D support high-flow nozzles?
Yes. High-flow hotends can increase material flow while maintaining print quality; compared to standard nozzles, print times for certain models and settings can be reduced by up to 30%. The actual improvement will vary depending on materials, models, and slicing parameters.
